Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine is a Philadelphia native, was born and raised in the city. Pam, Jazmine's mother, is an ex-backing singer for Philadelphia International Records. Her father gave her a job as the curator at the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She and her family then moved into the historical landmark. She is a 2005 graduate of the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts where she was a vocal music major. Sullivan had a role as contralto member of the children's choir and, a few more years later she joined the adult choir. Sullivan experienced only a small amount of secular music. She relates that she was performing solos in the church, when someone advised her to join an evangelical label, however she was not ready for the work. "Then when McDonald's was hosting a competition for children in cities of the world I had the opportunity to perform 'Accept Whatever God Allows' on It's Showtime in the Apollo and the audience was very enthusiastic". At the age 13 she performed to Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday. Sullivan At the age of 15 began her career with Jive Records. At the age of 15, she was signed to Jive Records. She recorded an complete album, but the album wasn't released. Sullivan was then removed out of the company. Missy Elliott was her producer on several tracks on the album she released her debut. Among them "Backstabbers" from Timbaland and Timbaland, which Elliott composed, was a hit.
